Lindsey Vonn’s miraculous return to Olympic skiing lasted just 13 seconds as she crashed out at the top of the women’s downhill course.
Vonn ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee just eight days before the Milan-Cortina 2026 women’s downhill competition.
But she insisted she would still compete in a knee brace.
However, she clipped a gate right at the top of the course and she took a terrifying fall, with her screams of pain audible on TV coverage as medics attended to the stricken 41-year-old.
The greatest downhill skier of all-time was air-lifted from the slopes to hospital for the second time in eight days.
