Rita Wilson, country singer and acclaimed Hollywood actress, is officially coming back with her first new solo album since 2019's Halfway to Home. The new record, titled Sound of a Woman, is set to come out on May 1.
The lead single and title track, "Sound of a Woman," is already out, dropping on Feb. 6 along with an official music video. The emotional ballad gives fans a hint of what's to come on the highly anticipated new album.
"Sound of a Woman" was co-written by Wilson and Grammy Award winner Amy Wadge, who previously worked with other major artists like Kacey Musgraves and Alicia Keys.

Wilson, who is married to actor Tom Hanks, talked a bit about what the song means to her in a press release shared with Parade, saying, "I’ve come to a stage in my life where I’m only now just finding my voice, both metaphorically and literally."
"Finally, I asked myself, ‘Does anyone actually know what I think or how I feel about anything?’" she went on. "Understanding and accepting that everything that life has thrown at me, as painful as some of it has been, has brought me to a place where I am more fully myself. I don’t think I am unique in that experience.”

Sound of a Woman might be Wilson's first solo record in seven years, but her last album release was Now & Forever: Duets, which came out in late 2022 and is filled with impactful duets with music icons like Smokey Robinson, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, and more.
