The event on Thursday marked the opening of the first building on the campus. According to Variety, the new building officially expands Project Angel Food's footprint from around 7,700 square feet to 16,000 square feet. The expansion gives the organization the ability to produce more than 4.5 million meals each year.
As the nonprofit's personal statement explains, "Project Angel Food nourishes the health and spirit of people facing critical and life-threatening illnesses by preparing and delivering medically tailored meals with love, care and dignity."
Richard Ayoub, the CEO of Project Angel Food, commented on the landmark facility ahead of its opening ceremony, saying, "This new building represents hope, growth and the next chapter of our mission, so we can nourish our most vulnerable neighbors today, tomorrow and for decades to come."
Ayoub went on to thank "our partners, donors and community leaders," with specific callouts to The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation and the S. Mark Taper Foundation.
Specht appears to be very passionate about the organization and her work, often sharing updates about various efforts, events, and more on social media.
