A daycare teacher in the western suburbs is facing charges of child endangerment after multiple parents reported the teacher gave their young children laxatives while inside the facility.
About 9:43 a.m. Tuesday, parents told St. Charles police they believe their children, who attend a daycare facility in the 2400 block of West Main Street were given chewable laxatives by one of their daycare teachers.
Police investigated the incidents and confirmed they occurred, a news release said, with three children impacted. All three were 2 years old or younger, police said.
The suspect was identified as Yizel J. Juarez of Sycamore, Illinois. According to St. Charles Police, Juarez was confirmed as an employee at the daycare, and is facing three charges each of attempted aggravated battery of a victim under 13, and endangering the life or health of a child.
Juarez turned herself into authorities, was given a court date and released from police custody.
The St. Charles Police Department is encouraging anyone who might have information about the incident to contact the department’s Investigations Division, at 630.377.4435.
