Curtis died from a heroin overdose at age 40 after a decades-long battle with addiction. Summer House cameras captured the stunning moment when Carl received the devastating phone call that his brother had died, and have since followed Carl's determination to embrace sobriety—a path that has been challenging and painful.
While Carl has shared memories and reflections about his brother's life on the show and in interviews, he opened up further with his mother, Sharon, on his More Life With Carl Radke podcast about the lasting impact his brother has had on him.
"I think there's a way to look at his passing as a way that people have been helped or have looked at themselves differently," Carl remarked. "Family members ... me ... I think it's given us a new opportunity as a family. And he hopefully is helping other people. And guess what? His story will continue to live on through Bravo and through my story and through Soft Bar and everything we do now with what we stand for and what we're trying to achieve."

I'm just living, trying to do the right things to honor him and not forget about him because he's a big reason why I'm still alive," Carl told PEOPLE.
During the candid discussion with his mother, Carl referred to Curtis as his "guiding light," adding that he's "almost the protector of me and our kind of vision for how to change this family trajectory."
While Sharon and Carl celebrated Curtis' memory, Sharon admits that the grief over losing a child will never end. "My son died," she said. "I'm not sure I'm ever gonna feel normal. I always ask the question, when does grieving stop?"
