‘80s Rock Frontman Reveals Surprising Career Highlight That Made Him Feel Like ‘Royalty’

Sebastian Bach’s career path has taken him from ‘80s rock stardom with Skid Row to acting roles on stage and screen to a long and successful solo run.

In a new interview, the legendary metal frontman revealed the unexpected career moment that blew his mind. “The one I enjoyed the most was definitely Jekyll & Hyde on Broadway,” Bach, 57, told RadioRox in a February 2026 interview. “I really had a lot of fun doing that show."

"I got to beat up people on stage and throw fire bombs. And wear the coolest Victorian fitted clothes," Bach continued. "It was probably the highlight of my career, I would say. When you are a headlining Broadway leading man, which I was, you get treated in New York City like royalty. People in Times Square, in the Broadway Theater District, when you walk into a restaurant or something, it’s like, ‘Right this way, Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde.’”

Bach played Dr. Henry Jekyll in the Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde for four months, starting on June 13, 2000, after Jack Wagner ended his run in the show, per Playbill.

During the new interview, the Skid Row rocker admitted he was stunned when he appeared on a New York City news program and was given an introduction that glossed over his rock star past.

“I’m sitting there on TV at 6 p.m., and they go, ‘All right, next up, we know him in New York City as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. But I bet you didn’t know Sebastian Bach has a rock and roll past,’” Bach revealed to RadioRox. “And I go, ‘What? That’s the intro for my interview now? You didn’t know I had a rock and roll past?’ That was mind-blowing to me. When they cut to my face, I was in shock because I had done something in New York City that was bigger than Skid Row. And that just felt really good to me. I thought, ‘Wow, I did something else in my life.’”

More than 25 years later, Bach continues to tour with his solo band, but he added that he would “love to do more theater,” depending on the role.

“I would love to be in a Marvel movie at some point in my life,” he added. "I’m a very big fan of Marvel. And I’ve done lots of acting. So that would be great. Those two things. Maybe a DC movie too. I’m not exclusive.”

    Many career highs

Bach previously noted that he’s had highlights in multiple facets of his career.

“I have had such different things happening in my career over the years, that I like to think it's been a series of defining moments rather than just one,” he once told Maximum Metal. "In Skid Row, the defining moment was probably when we debuted at number one with ‘Slave to the Grind,’ that seemed to be the highlight of the band. And then in my solo career, when I did Jekyll and Hyde on Broadway, that was a defining moment because I never thought I could pull something like that off. I like to think about all of the work I have done as one big body of work.”

In 2024, Bach also looked back on his TV role in Gilmore Girls as a career highlight. The rocker played Hep Alien bandmate Gil for four seasons in the beloved comedy-drama series.

“I consider myself so lucky to have the experiences that I have had in this life. Appearing on the TV show the @gilmoregirls was one of the highlights of my career,” Bach wrote on Facebook. "The friendships that were made on this show are lifelong. Every time we see each other, even if it's been years, we always greet each other with kindness, respect, and above all. laughter.”

In 2026, Bach’s The Party Never Ends Tour with special guests Stitched Up Heart runs from February 20 through April 10. The rock legend has more live shows scheduled through the fall of 2016.
