For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Cecilia Walusek from Ann Arbor, Michigan has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at the Naval Academy beginning in fall 2027.
“l am so excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to swim, study, and serve at the United States Naval Academy. I am very grateful to my family, friends, and teammates for all their support and to Coaches Stefanie Kerska and Pat Wickering for constantly pushing me to be the best version of myself. A special thank you to Coach Clay, Coach Morrison, and Coach Carlye for giving me this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to see what else God has planned for my future. Go Navy, Beat Army!”
Walusek swims for Club Wolverine and is currently a junior at Ann Arbor Pioneer. This past November, she helped Pioneer to a Michigan High School Division I (big schools) team title. She swam on the team’s 200 free relay as well as the 200 medley relay both of which earned the state title.
In addition to her relay contributions, Walusek finished 2nd in the 100 backstroke in a lifetime best 56.41. She also swam to a best time 2:03.94 during prelims of the 200 IM before finishing 3rd in finals in a 2:06.04.
She finished her long course season at Futures in Ocala. There she was highlighted by personal best times in the 200 IM (2:25.54), 50 back (32.38), 50 fly (30.53), and 50 free (27.23).
Walusek’s Best SCY Times Are:
200 free: 1:50.19 100 free: 51.49 200 IM: 2:03.93 100 back: 56.31The Navy women captured the 2025 Patriot League title with 1514.5 points, finishing over 200 points ahead of 2nd place Army (1246 points). Navy was led by Lauren Walsh who scored 83 individual points including 2nd place finishes in both breaststroke events.
Based on her best times, Walusek would already add to Navy’s point tally. Her best time in the 200 free would have been 5th at the 2025 Patriot League Championships, an event Navy had two ‘A’ finalists in. Walusek’s 100 free and 200 IM best times would have made the conference ‘B’ finals.
Walusek will arrive in fall 2027 as a member of the class of 2031 along with Olivia Musick, Ariana Aldeguer, Samantha Fenstermaker, Alivia Czosnyka, Savannah Duffy, and Chloe Gustin.
