Georgia appears on the verge of seeing one of its defensive assistant coaches leave for the professional level after four seasons.
Chidera Uzo-Diribe, who joined the program in 2022 as the Bulldogs’ outside linebackers coach, will depart for the same position with the Dallas Cowboys, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
The 33-year-old, who played collegiately at Colorado, entered the coaching ranks as a grad assistant with the Buffaloes in 2016. In 2019, he joined Kansas’s staff as a defensive quality control coach before being promoted to outside linebackers coach for the 2020 season.
In 2021, he was hired as SMU’s defensive line coach. Following Sonny Dykes’ hire at TCU, Uzo-Diribe was initially tapped to take the same position with the Horned Frogs program before instead heading to Georgia to coach outside LBs.
While in Athens, Uzo-Diribe was instrumental in the development of Chaz Chambliss. In 2024, Chambliss was named third-team All-SEC before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings and making the team’s active roster.
Uzo-Diribe will replace former Cowboys LB coach Dave Borgonzi. Borgonzi was hired by the Cowboys after three seasons with the Chicago Bears as part of Brian Schottenheimer’s initial staff but was eventually fired in January.
