The weekend’s competition saw a tough battle between the Nittany Lions and the Mountaineers, with Penn State winning 11 of the day’s events and beating WVU 157 to 140 points.

Three of the Penn State women picked up two individual victories apiece, helping to lead their team to victory.

Margaret Markvardt prevailed in the 100 back (53.45), charging into the wall over two seconds ahead of the runner-up to clock a season-best time, and the 100 fly (53.88). She later improved her season-best in the 100 back even further, throwing down a time of 53.27 as the leadoff on the winning 400 medley relay. Markvardt also helped the Nittany Lions to victory in the 200 free relay.

Teammate Morgan Moore swept the distance events, winning the 500 free in 4:55.00 and the 1000 free in 10:00.34. Following close behind her in both races was WVU’s Olivia Busch, who took the runner-up spot in 4:57.63 and 10:10.98, respectively.

Also turning in two individual wins for the Nittany Lions was Audrey Cohen, who took home the title in the 100 breast (1:03.46) and 200 breast (2:16.45).
