ROMULUS, N.Y. — Taxpayers are set to cover a $2.2 million bill to clear out a Seneca County warehouse storing thousands of gallons of flammable hand sanitizer.
Work has already started to remove the hand sanitizer, officials said.
According to an EPA report, nearly 276 tons of hand sanitizer have been packaged and readied for shipping. The Romulus warehouse was rented by a company run by Eduard Zaydman.
Zaydman also operated a warehouse in Ontario County where hand sanitizer sparked a massive fire last summer, contaminating a nearby creek.

An EPA spokesperson told News10NBC they are going to try to recoup the $2.2 million cleanup cost from Zaydman.
