New Kentucky coach Will Stein has big plans as he takes over in Lexington.
During an interview this week with Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman, Stein said the Wildcats have the ability to ‘disrupt’ the SEC in the coming seasons.
“I’ve never called a play where I didn’t think we would score a touchdown,” Stein said on the Andy and Ari show. “I’m that type of guy. I want an edge man. Let’s go cut it loose and disrupt this league and make it interesting. Not just make it interesting, but go win. That is what is really excited for me. I want our guys to feel that energy, enthusiasm and that passion.”

Stein replaced Mark Stoops, who was fired this past December despite being the winningest coach in program history. Stein was previously the offensive coordinator for Oregon, helping the Ducks make it to the College Football Playoff for the second consecutive year.
The Wildcats will be bringing in a new quarterback, as former Notre Dame quarterback Kenny Minchey announced he was transferring to Kentucky after losing Zach Calzada and Cutter Boley from last season’s team.
Right now, Stein and his team are gearing up for the spring portion of their season, but the coach has high expectations for his team heading into the 2026 season.
