On the evening on Sunday, Feb. 1, news broke that Savannah’s mom Nancy Guthrie had been reported missing. The 84-year-old was last seen near her home in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 31 and is being referred to by authorities as a “vulnerable adult.”

    During a press conference on Monday, Feb. 2, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that Nancy's disappearance was reported on the morning of Feb. 1 after a friend of hers noticed she was not present at church that morning and called one of her children.

    Nancy and her late husband Charles, who died from a heart attack when Savannah was 16, share three children: Savannah, 54, Annie, and Camron.

    The church friend then went to Nancy's home and “did some searching and realized, ‘We need some help,’ and they called 911.”

    Nanos said that “suspicious circumstances” were found at Nancy’s home just outside Tucson and that after processing the scene on Sunday night, investigators now “believe a crime has been committed.”

    He added investigators believe Nancy “did not leave on her own.”

    Savannah addressed the disappearance of her mother via a statement, which read, "On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
