After months of avid fan speculation and the occasional teaser, Michael Jackson's new biographical drama, Michael, has officially received its first full-length trailer.
Taking viewers on a heartrending journey through the course of Jackson's career, the new trailer opens with a thunderous performance from the King of Pop at a sold-out stadium, performing his trademark dance moves to the beat of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough."
"You're confident," the trailer's narrator, Nia Long's Katherine Jackson, says over the opening. "You're strong. You're beautiful. You're the greatest of all time."
The trailer then quickly devolves to a montage of a young Michael Jackson growing up with his family members in the Jackson Five, all the while his father (Colman Domingo) iterates how important it is that they use their musical talents to ascend further up in the world.
"You all want to work in the steel mill like me for the rest of your days?" Comingo's Joe Jackson asks his family. "'Cause I sure as hell don't. You willing to fight for it?"
Past this, the trailer then jumps to Jaafar Jackson portraying his real-life uncle Michael. As he grows older, the trailer shows Jackson beginning to question the iron grip of his father's managerial influence on his life, leading him to desire a solo career.
"I love my family," Jackson says at one point in the trailer. "I just want to do my own thing. I just have all these ideas in my head. I just got to get them out."
Directed by Training Day filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, Michael is set to arrive in theaters on April 24, 2026. Starring an all-star cast that includes the likes of Long, Domingo and Miles Teller, it also marks one of the rare musical biopics to feature the direct involvement of a surviving member of Jackson's family, as seen through the starring appearance of 29-year-old Jaafar Jackson in the title role.
