ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Fire Department responded to a report of a person who fell into the water, holding onto a sheet of ice near Charlotte Pier in Ontario Beach Park after the end of the Rochester Polar Plunge on Sunday afternoon.
RFD tells us that they were met by two people who heard yelling for help, spotting a person trapped in the water as they held onto a sheet of ice, near the east side of the pier.
RFD spotted and then made contact with the victim, hoisting them out of the water.
The victim was reported as being semi-conscious from cold water exposure. They were taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
