One year after missing out on Ben Johnson, the Las Vegas Raiders are closing on a new offensive wizard to lead their franchise.
Unless something unexpected happens, it sounds like the Raiders will land Klint Kubiak as their new head coach:
The Raiders are zeroing in on Klint Kubiak as their next head coach, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Nothing can be finalized until after Super Bowl LX. But all signs are pointing towards Kubiak landing in Las Vegas. pic.twitter.com/MHw3M3e7AM

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 1, 2026REPORTS: Raiders to hire Klint Kubiak as their new head coach
Once it becomes officially official, Klint Kubiak will become the second Raiders head-coaching hire in as many years. He will also become the sixth different head coach since this site’s inception in 2017. Kubiak will Join Jon Gruden, Rich Bisaccia, Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce, and Pete Carroll as head coaches who have been hired since the calendar flipped to 2018. Ideally, the Raiders are envisioning Kubiak as the guy who puts a stop to the carousel of disappointment.
In Klint Kubiak, the Raiders are set to bring in a coach who will be the offensive play-caller for a Seattle Seahawks team representing the NFC in next week’s Super Bowl. Seattle’s offense ranked third in points scored and eighth in yards with quarterback Sam Darnold (4,048 passing yards, 25 touchdowns), wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba (119 catches, 1,793 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns), and running back Kenneth Walker III (1,027 rushing yards, 5 touchdowns) leading the charge. Given Kubiak’s success and who he has worked for in the past, I find this to be an interesting hire for Vegas.

The Raiders have some intriguing pieces on offense with running back Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers. But the rest of the wide receivers are a lost cause, the offensive line is a straight-up mess, and the quarterback position is a big, fat question-mark. However, Vegas has the first overall pick and are expected to take Heisman Trophy-winning national champion Fernando Mendoza from Indiana University with that selection. At a minimum, that move will make the Vegas football squad an interesting NFL Red Zone watch in 2026.
Once the Raiders make it officially official with Klint Kubiak, that will leave the Arizona Cardinals as the only team without a head coach. I’ll monitor that situation with a small level of interest because that job is clearly one that coaching candidates have steered away from — and understandably so, I might add. The NFC West is loaded with three championship contenders led by a trio of top-notch head coaches. Good luck with that situation. Plus, it will be interesting to see if any other Bears assistants will come up as candidates to take promotions elsewhere. Stay tuned.
