80s Heavy Metal Legend Reveals New Solo Album is Almost Complete

Bruce Dickinson, frontman of the legendary 1980s heavy metal band Iron Maiden, began teasing his upcoming studio album in August 2025. Thanks to hard rock vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, there is confirmation that the recording process is nearly complete.

Soto, a friend of Dave Grohl and Dickinson, posted to Instagram Saturday night, sharing photos of himself in Grohl's Northridge, California, recording studio. In the caption, he revealed that Dickinson's final vocals have been recorded for the upcoming record.

"I went to say hello to my dear friend Mistheria who I worked with on his Vivaldi Metal Project and of course is part of Bruce Dickinson’s solo endeavors these days," said Soto. "Arrived at Dave Grohl’s studio right as Bruce was doing some final vocals to his new album. He finished and came out to chat/hang a little but then asked if I wanted to hear a few of the songs...umm, YEA!"

Soto went on to describe the album vocals, commending Dickinson's powerful voice and teasing the sound of the record. According to Soto, this new album will be one of Dickinson's strongest works yet.

"I must say besides the fact that he is still singing at the top of his game, the songs, performances, and the overall vibe I got from all was beyond impressive, I think this outing will be one of his strongest ever outside of the Maiden camp."

In an interview with SiriusXM's Eddie Trunk in 2025, Dickinson spoke on his plans for upcoming solo material, explaining that a new album was in the works and he had studio time booked in January to start the recording process.

"We are gonna do a new album — we are recording the new album, rather — in January next year here in L.A.," said Dickinson. "In fact, we were in the studio, well, just yesterday for three or four days, doing updates on the demos that we did with drum machines and things like that."

The Iron Maiden powerhouse admitted that the new record would stray from the feel of his seventh studio album, The Mandrake Project. While it will mimic its semi-conceptual approach, the new record will be much shorter than his last. The upcoming album will also be recorded live, abandoning The Mandrake Project's "Frankenstein" feel.

"It will be a different feel to the album because this is gonna be recorded live," Dickinson explained. "I mean, Mandrake was a bit like stitching together Frankenstein's monster, 'cause it was stuff from 2014 and then it was stuff from after COVID, and all of it glued together. So sonically it was a little bit all over the place."

An official album title and release date has not yet been set.
