After seeing Kevin score an equaliser for Fulham just moments earlier, United looked to have thrown away a two-goal lead in the final minutes of the match, but Sesko’s clinical finish secured a 3-2 victory for the Red Devils.
It was a thrilling game full of twists and turns, with both sides playing their part at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
United thought they’ve earned a penalty in the 16th minute, when Jorge Cuenca grappled with Matheus Cunha as the Brazilian ran into the box. Following a VAR review, however, the offence was deemed to have just outside the box, and referee John Brooks corrected his original decision to a free kick on the edge of the area.
It wouldn’t stop United from opening the scoring though, as Bruno Fernandes’ floated set-piece delivery found the head of Casemiro, who headed past Bernd Leno to open the scoring.It was the midfielder’s fifth league goal of 2025-26, while Fernandes collected his 11th assist of the Premier League campaign – by far the most of any player in the division this season and already more than he had in the whole of 2024-25 (10).

Casemiro turned provider this time, threading a ball into the box where Cunha raced onto the pass before rocketing a shot into the top of the net past Leno to score his sixth goal for the Red Devils since signing from Wolves in the summer.
Fulham thought they’d halved the deficit in the 65th minute when Raúl Jiménez’s free-kick deflected off the Man Utd wall and eventually found a way through to Cuenca, who converted from close range to score his first goal for the London club. A long VAR check eventually deemed the Spanish defender to be in an offside position though, and the goal was ruled out.
They eventually found the net in the 85th minute, after Harry Maguire’s sliding tackle made contact with Jiménez foot rather than the ball, before the Mexican dusted himself down to score from the penalty spot. With that penalty, he became the player to have taken the most penalties without ever missing one in the Premier League.
Old Trafford was stunned into silence six minutes later, as Fulham scored a stunning equaliser via substitute Kevin. Running at the United defence wide on the left, he played a one-two with Ryan Sessegnon before firing a sensational curler from the edge of the box into the top corner of Senne Lammens’ net.
The Theatre of Dreams hadn’t finished serving up the drama yet, though. Having earlier hit the post with a header just 64 seconds after coming off the bench, Sesko became United’s hero in the fourth minute of added time.
The Slovenian picked up a pass from Fernandes, who took his league assist tally for 2025-26 to 12 – before swivelling inside the box and curling a strike into the top corner to win the game and secure the three points for the home side.
It’s now three wins from three under Michael Carrick during his latest interim spell in charge. That run equals the longest winning streak under former boss Rúben Amorim’s during his 47-game tenure (three in October 2025).
With this latest win, United move on to 41 points from 24 games this season – just one away from their final points tally in 2024-25 when they disastrously finished 15th in the Premier League. Their much-improved performance this season is giving fans hope of UEFA Champions League football at Old Trafford once again, especially with the Premier League projected to be given another spot in the competition for 2026-27.
