CHARLOTTE, N.Y. — This year’s Lakeside Winter Celebration kicked off Saturday at Ontario Beach Park.
The celebration featured a variety of activities for attendees. A fireworks show over the Genesee River was scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.
Earlier in the day, visitors enjoyed an ice and snow sculpting competition and a chili cook-off with a grand prize of up to $200. For those looking to relax, there were horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, and a chance to meet sled dogs.
Local vendors offered arts and crafts for sale, and attendees could enjoy ice skating for family fun or participate in wine and spirit tasting for adults.
Organizer Jim Farr said it was nice how this year it actually feels like winter out.
“This year it was actually cold,” said Farr. “But in some ways, I think it’s better because people are used to the cold. It’s been cold so long, so they don’t mind being outside another day. So we’re expecting a great crowd. And it’s a great thing to bring people to the beach in the wintertime.”
