The Traitors Season 4 has arrived! Throughout the season, Mike Bloom will speak with someone from the star-studded cast who was murdered or banished on the iconic Peacock reality series.Three years ago, we watched Yam Yam Arocho charm and disarm on the beaches of Fiji. The salon owner was able to utilize his sense of humor and impeccable reads to become one of the most social Survivor winners in recent memory. So when the Puerto-Rican given a chance to trade one island for another, he jumped at the opportunity to fly to Scotland. When he touched down on The Traitors, Yam Yam was eager to showcase the skills that made him one of the "gamers." He made new relationships and was vocal at the Round Tables. But, perhaps most prominently, he also was eager to go for a Shield at any chance he got. It was this mentality that drew the most heat on him the entire game. Michael Rapaport was infuriated when Yam Yam didn't get a chance at safety, prompting multiple confrontations between the two. And his close ally Tiffany Mitchell wasn't far behind, as she made her suspicions toward him known in what wound up being the Round Table that got her banished. With both Tiffany and Michael eliminated from the game, Yam Yam felt he was relatively out of the line of fire. But, as he descended the castle stairs into the banquet, wearing a resplendent white feathery piece across his shoulder, he had no idea how "plucked" he would be by night's end. The Traitors had been tasked to murder in plain sight, and Lisa Rinna chose Yam Yam, feeling his death would be least likely to connect back to her. She would have no idea how wrong she was in her assumption. When Alan Cumming informed the group that one of them had been "poisoned" by the Traitors, pandemonium ensued, battles both verbal and physical for who was cursed — and who had done the cursing. Unfortunately, the one time Yam Yam didn't go for safety was the one time he needed it, as he was quite literally pulled from the game. But, being dragged out of the castle kicking and screaming, all he could bellow was one thing. "It was Lisa! Lisa kissed me!" Ironically, Yam Yam had given the kiss of death to Lisa, who would subsequently be banished and outed as a Traitor. But his demise wound up making the "Black Banquet" one hell of a halftime show. Now out of the game, Yam Yam talks with Parade about the moment we didn't see from the banquet that had him calling out Lisa's name on his way out, why there was a "cloud of doubt" around him the majority of the game, and his opinions on fellow Survivor player Rob Cesternino saying he was putting a target on him.

I'm excited to sit down with you, Yam Yam! Hopefully less of a dramatic sitdown than the last one we saw.Oh my gosh, yes, I'm not gonna get dragged away with anymore feathers. [Pulls out the feathers he had on his shoulder and waves them around.] Well, I'm glad you were able to hang onto those in the midst of the scuffle that ensued!I ripped them out after they murdered me, and I took them home.Let's start by what got you in the castle in the first place, rather than taken out. Of course, you're a reality TV winner. And you got to see your Survivor 44 friend and ally Carolyn Wiger in her star turn last year on The Traitors. So what was your reaction when you were asked to be a part of The Traitors yourself?Oh my God. I was so happy. I cried. I did not believe that it was for real. I made the person call me on Instagram FaceTime to confirm that it was a real call. But I was so excited. Because I love reality TV. I love strategy games. It's something that I've love since I was a kid. And I think being a Survivor winner, what are you gonna do? Stay in my house, working? No, I want to go have fun! So, yeah, I mean, I was also excited for the outfits, because, hey, there's a shower here![Laughs.] Well, let's get to the surprises that showered down you at the banquet. Because, up until then, you had been very adamant about going for Shields during the missions. The irony is, the one time you needed it, you decided to not go for the antidote. Were you ever debating putting your hat in the ring to drink it?At that point, I knew a lot of people didn't trust me. I had this cloud of doubt over me that was so heavy. And I remember after Ron got banished, I was like, "I need to change my ways in this castle." Because it was so heavy at the beginning. It was so dark and angry that I wanted to have fun. I literally went to bed, I was like, "I need to have fun like Survivor. I need my Carolyn; I need to kiki. I need my fun, my nonsense." So I connected with Lisa, and Lisa gave me that energy. Of course, I was very close to Natalie and other people. But Lisa was the one that was feeding into my craziness. And when I walk into the banquet, of course, I do touch the broach and whatever. Because of my connection with Lisa, I never saw it coming. I needed to be there and change the perspective of people. I remember Kristen telling me, "I don't think you're a Traitor, but I just don't trust you." And it bothered me so much to the fact that it actually got into my head and made me a little bit depressed. If you look back on the episode, I'm really serious most of the time. Because I was just exhausted at that point, and all I wanted them was to trust me again, and I was still figuring out how I'm going to do that. So when Alan comes in and says, "There's been a murder and there's potions," I was like, "If I stand up and I get this potion, it's gonna be one more thing they're gonna hate me for." So that's when I tell Johnny. Because the potions were like, hanging out there for like 10 minutes. Nobody was touching them. And when everybody started standing up, I told Johnny, "Grab it. Grab it and give it to Kristen." Because in my head, I was like, "I need Kristen to like me." And so that's why I had him bring it, because they were not gonna touch them, because these people are so proper. They're like waiting for the prompt from the director to tell them to stand up. I was like, "F—k this s—it. Go grab the potion!" Because that's the gamer in me. You don't wait for s—t, you rip it off. And then Natalie ran and got the other one. And of course, I was working very close to Natalie, and I didn't want Natalie to be murdered. And Natalie has always been super outspoken at the Round Table. Kristen was very outspoken at the one with Ron. I was like, "They need to be protected. They're not gonna murder me, because everybody thinks I'm a Traitor. So why would they murder me? So I was chill after that happened, with all the hecticness that was going on, because there was so much stuff going on.What do you think is the biggest thing we missed from what made the edit at the banquet?[After that], Alan then repeats the speech again that he did when he walked in. And he says, more clear this time, "The curse of the kiss repeats itself." And that's when I look at Mark and say, "Lisa kissed me." But they had already taken the potions. And I felt it like a big like stone in my heart. And Mark is a sweetheart, but he wasn't trusting me either. And he was like, "What do you mean?" I was like, "Dude, Lisa kissed me." He said, "What do you mean she kissed you?" But he kept looking at his friends, like Eric, Kristen and Johnny. And I was like, "Dude, she kissed me! You don't understand. She kissed me differently. She kissed me like she never has kissed me." Because Lisa and I would say hi in the morning and give air kisses, be all lady-like. But she actually put her lips in my face. I was like, "Oh, she finally loves me! It registered as that. So going back at it, when he says, "The kiss of the curse reveals itself," I was like, "It was a kiss! It was her." Because she was too warm with me, too special. And if you know about my game on Survivor, I use the twinkle in the eye of people. The "twinkle in the eye" is a phrase. But my thing is, I always see a shift in people's reaction with me. And she shifted in a way that felt more real, even more than she was always with me. When he said, "The kiss," I connected to that doubt. I was like, "Why is she like that with me now?" But at that point, the potions were gone. There is so much to unpack there. So then, when Alan reveals you've been murdered, and you're getting dragged out of the castle, did you immediately jump into trying to tell everyone it was Lisa? Were you just seeing black? I know there's been some talk back and forth as to whether or not you should have been allowed to say anything once you were formally "murdered."I just repeated what I was saying to Mark. Because Mark, at this point, was not believing me. So I started screaming in out loud. And these people that don't trust me, the ones that got together to get Colton out, they're like, "What do you mean?" Like I have f—king time to sit down and give you notes, bitch! They're dragging me out. "What do you mean she kissed you. Explain." Dude, I'm being dragged out! She kissed me, she kissed me, she kissed me! She kissed me different! She kissed me like her husband! She kissed me on the cheek! Don't you get it? It's Lisa, it's Lisa, it's Lisa! [Sighs.] Oh my God, I could not stand them. I was so exhausted with the quiet people.Talk to me more about that. Does that connect back to what you said earlier about there being a "cloud of doubt" around you going into the banquet? So the first half of the game, we did these alliances in the car. It was Monét, Colton, Natalie and me. And then we got in Caroline, I got in Steven and we got in somebody else, because we had this little group. And I was like, "There's 23 of us. Ian just got murdered. We only need 10 or 11, votes together." This thing about [Johnny's] eight votes, we already were doing it. They never showed it, of course, because we all got murdered. So what happened is this other half saw us doing this. And not including them, they thought we were trying to control the game against them. I don't know. I don't give a s—t what they were thinking. I just knew that we were not their cup of tea. And we come from very different worlds. These people are friends from LA. These people all know about each other. They always hang out. I get it. Had there been 11 people from Puerto Rico, that would probably be my crowd too. But it was not the case. And the fact that within the gamers there were these fractures, because we didn't trust each other, because all the gamers thought there was a gamer Traitor, also didn't bring a lot of love to us. I mean, they loved Natalie because she was so athletic and she's so amazing. But I was always the back of the pack. I was always the last one in, and I was the one that lifted the least. [Laughs.]You bring up the gamers not trusting each other. I'd be remiss not to bring up my interview with your fellow Survivor alum Rob Cesternino, who felt you were telling people on Night 1 that he was a "Survivor mastermind" and putting a target on his back, especially when you told him, "I thought you would be murdered." What's your perspective on that?I said that about a lot of people! They just showed that one. No, here's the thing. Everybody knew who Rob Cesternino was. Maybe not as much as I did. But if you go into Traitors, what do you do? You do research. So how do you do research? You go into YouTube. You get interviews of people that have been on Traitors. And who's leading the interviews? Rob Cesternino! I saw his interviews. I'm sure I'm not the only player to saw all his interviews. So when we get there, people already know who he is. I have never in my life seen Caroline Stanbury. Caroline says Night 1, "Oh, he's a strategist. We need to get together with him." That was not my doing. I had never talked to her. Don't you think people ask Rob about me or Natalie? "Oh, yeah, they won Survivor"? I mean, I never said, "He's the biggest mastermind strategist. Jeff Probst said he's the best loser to never win." I never said that s—t. I just said, "Oh my God, he has a podcast about reality TV. He's fun. His wife is super cool. I've met them. They're great." What am I supposed to say? "Oh, guys, I'm not gonna say anything, because Survivor players don't talk about each other?!" I'm sure he said I won Survivor I'm sure he said to someone, "Oh, you know Carolyn from last year that was a Traitor? Yeah, they played together. They're great friends." Was that aired? Did it happen? Somebody said it.It's stupid say that I put a target on him. And I appreciate all that means because, "Oh, I'm such a good player of Traitors." But I never did it with ill intention, and I didn't do anything that other people were doing. And him having such a big fandom and base because he deserves it, he's freaking amazing. Rob is somebody that is very respected in this world. And, on top of all that, I got a little hurt that he kept saying that it was me that keep painting a target on himself. Because he's an amazing person. He's not as unknown as he thinks he is. He should be well-known. He's on the f—king American Airlines little TV! I'm not.
