While the last outing of Bridgerton featured characters that we have known and loved since season 1 with Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton), this instalment shakes things up once again by introducing a brand new character to proceedings in Sophie Baek.
With a name change from the original Julia Quinn novels, Sophie works as a maid but crosses paths with bohemian Bridgerton, Benedict (Luke Thompson) who embarks on a mission to find his Lady in Silver from the masquerade ball.

Played by Yerin Ha, the actress teased what's to come in an issue of Radio Times magazine, saying: “Ultimately, this is just a story about seeing who you are on the inside. What drew me to Sophie was her moral compass: she doesn’t change who she is for anybody else. It’s a real push-and-pull game, because he’s of a noble class and Sophie’s of a lower class."

Who is Yerin Ha?
Ha is an Australian actress, best known for her role in the Paramount+ series Halo, which was adapted from the hit video game. She starred in the series as Kwan Ha from 2022 to 2024.
Ha was born in Sydney, Australia and moved to South Korea at a young age, deciding to pursue acting and enrolling in Kaywon High School of Arts in Seoul. She went on to get a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting and then majored in musical theatre at Sydney's National Institute of Dramatic Art.
Ha made her TV debut in French-American crime drama Reef Break, then going on to star in Halo and then in Australian drama Troppo, before making her film debut in Sissy in 2022.
Speaking to Tudum about what drew her to this new Bridgerton role, Ha said: "She immediately has obstacles – something that she constantly has to overcome, whether it's this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict."
Ha is 28 years old.

Speaking to Tudum about the role, Ha said: “There’s this theme with masks that was running throughout all of my audition scenes. When does Sophie put on this mask to cover her emotions? Or vice versa, when does she take it off and when does she soften up? Playing with those [questions] is just really fun.”

The change to reflect Ha and the character's own Korean heritage is an important one, with Ha also saying: “A name is the first bit of identity that you share with the world, and that’s why changing a name can be so powerful.
