Tom Morello brings together major rock acts for benefit concert honoring Minneapolis shooting victims.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Tom Morello is organizing a major benefit concert to support the families of two Minneapolis residents whose deaths have sparked national conversation. The 'Solidarity & Resistance' event will take place Friday, Jan. 30, at First Avenue in Minneapolis, featuring performances from Morello, Rise Against, Al Di Meola, Ike Reilly and additional special guests.
All proceeds from the two-hour concert will benefit the families of Renée Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti, both U.S. citizens who died during separate encounters with federal immigration enforcement agents in Minneapolis earlier this month.
"We are coming to Minneapolis where the people have heroically stood up for their neighbors and themselves, for democracy and justice," Morello said in a statement. "Ain't nobody coming to save us except us and it's now or never."
The Rage Against the Machine guitarist, known for decades of activism alongside his musical career, has long used his platform to support causes he believes in. From standing with striking workers across the country to serving as an ACLU Ambassador for Smart Justice, Morello has consistently demonstrated commitment to social issues through both his music and direct action.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti, also 37, worked as an intensive care nurse at a VA hospital. An avid outdoorsman who grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Pretti was remembered by neighbors and family as someone with "a great heart" who cared deeply about his community.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has urged residents to show "courage, bravery, love and compassion" during this challenging period, while Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has vowed to seek accountability and justice.
