A suburban woman was found dead after her husband saw a man he believed to be her ex-husband chasing her into their garage on an in-home camera, police said.
Around 1:10 p.m., police were dispatched to the 400 block of Valentine Way in Oswego after a man called authorities and said he believed his wife was in danger after seeing a man he believed to be her ex-husband “run after” her into the garage on their home surveillance system, authorities said.
Officers found a deceased woman inside the house upon arrival, authorities said.
Police said their preliminary investigation suggests the victim’s ex-husband followed her into the garage and attacked her.
A witness told police they saw a man fleeing southbound from the house across Wolfs Crossing Road.
A search using canine teams and drone surveillance was immediately launched with help from the Aurora Police Department, authorities said. Dispatchers also provided officers with a vehicle description and license plate number believed to be associated with the suspect.
Around 1:37 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle matching the description traveling southbound on Harvey Road near Hathaway Lane, driven by a man matching the suspect description, authorities said. The driver was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop near Rance Road and Pioneer Court.
The suspect in custody of the Oswego Police Department is the victim’s ex-husband, authorities said.
The victim’s identification has not yet been released.
An autopsy will be performed Thursday to determine her cause and manner of death, authorities said.
