LOS ANGELES — People throughout the region during the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer won’t have to attend any of the eight matches at SoFi Stadium to gain a firsthand feel for the largest sporting event on the planet.

Kicking off at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as the competition opens on June 11 in Mexico City, 10 sites across the region were revealed Wednesday as part of the 2026 L.A. host committee’s engagement agenda, which includes fan zones for large-scale watch parties, clinics, mobile bus tours and community events fronted by the likes of Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy and Cobi Jones.

At 40,000, the daily capacity inside the Coliseum (June 11-15) ranks among the largest of any venue in the U.S. or host nations Canada and Mexico.

The Coliseum holds the distinction of being the only stadium to host a FIFA Fan Festival in North America in 2026.

“It’s really ambitious but in the best way,” said Ross McCall, executive director of commercial operations for FIFA. “And I think we’re here at an iconic venue like the Memorial Coliseum where history is made across a lot of other events. This is going to be a shot that’s broadcast around the world.”

As the tournament moves forward, fan zones accommodating 5,000 to 10,000 attendees will touch various pockets of the L.A. area.

The Original Farmers Market (June 18-21) and the City of Downey (June 20) pick up where the Coliseum left off.

The heart of the city – Union Station and La Plaza de Cultura y Artes – has a turn with several closing group stage games and the start of knockout matches (June 25-28).

Hansen Dam Lake in the North Valley presents Round of 32 and Round of 16 contests, July 2-5, and L.A. County’s Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park joins on Fourth of July weekend.

The fan zone heads to the county’s Whittier Narrows recreation area on July 9-11.

A pair of quarterfinal games get showcased at Venice Beach on July 11.

The semifinals, third-place game and the World Cup final (July 14-15 and July 18-19) finish off the 48-country tournament at Fairplex in Pomona and West Harbor in San Pedro.

“For us, the fan festivals and the fan zones are the next best thing to being in the stadium,” McCall said. “It’s really about being sure the entire World Cup experience comes to life in these events. Luckily, the World Cup is appointment viewing, but you also want to watch it with fans, with community, so having these fan zones, these areas where people can congregate, is really important for us.”

Fan zones will be ticketed to address security considerations, but they are not revenue generators, said Kathryn Schloessman, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission and the CEO of the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee.

“Our goal is to make sure Angelenos and visitors alike can be a part of this event,” Schloessman said.

Tickets prices, expected to be announced in March, will be kept low to promote access, the organizers said.

“That’s really set by the host committees in consultation with us,” McCall said. “But for us the mandate is that these fan festivals should be accessible to as many people as possible, which I know that Kathy and the L.A. host committee are really motivated to do. I know that’s at the forefront of what they’re trying to achieve.”

An updated economic impact statement was also released on Wednesday to account for the outcome of the tournament draw and confirmed matches at SoFi Stadium, including the U.S. national team’s group stage games on June 12 and June 25. The World Cup’s economic impact on the city, according to an estimate cited by the host committee, will surpass $1.1 billion.

A total of 104 World Cup matches will take place across the United States, Canada and Mexico. This is the first time that the FIFA World Cup will be held in the U.S. in over 30 years.

Mexico will kick off the tournament with a match against South Africa in Mexico City on June 11.
