ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A second person has been sentenced 18 years to life in prison for a deadly shooting on Cuba Place in 2024.

Timothy Brooks, 21, was previously convicted of murder by a Monroe County Jury. According to prosecutors, James Jackson Jr. was found sitting in the driver’s seat of a car that crashed into a pole with gunshot wounds. Jackson was brought to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
After an RPD investigation, Brooks and Raphael Marquez were arrested for their involvement. Marquez was sentenced to 23 years in prison, plus five years of post-release supervision.
Brooks was also previously found guilty of attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon on an unrelated robbery. He was sentenced to a consecutive five years on Wednesday.
