Greater Rochester Boat Show (Thursday through Sunday)
The Rochester Riverside Convention Center will be full of hundreds of boats starting Thursday. The 39th annual Greater Rochester Boat Show runs through Sunday.
The show will feature dealers selling new models of sports boats, cruisers, fishing boats, pontoons, jet boats, ski boats, and more. People can also bring their trade-in boats to get an idea of their value. On-site financing is available at the show. If you buy a boat, dealers can hold on to the boat until you’re ready to use it.
The show runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. It runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. General admission is $10 and admission for seniors, first responders, and military with ID is $7. Kids under 12 are free.

Lakeside Winter Celebration (Saturday and Sunday)
The 40th Annual Lakeside Winter Celebration kicks off on Saturday, celebrating Rochester’s winter season with activities at Ontario Beach Park.
Saturday’s activities will run from noon to 4 p.m. and will include a snow sculpture contest, a chili contest, and ice sculpture demonstrations. There will also be horse-drawn wagon rides, food and drinks, arts/crafts, and live music in a heated tent. Saturday will end with fireworks over the Genesee River around 6:15 p.m. You can learn more here.
Sunday’s polar plunge is also part of the Lakeside Winter Celebration.
Rochester Polar Plunge (Sunday)
Hundreds of people will plunge into Lake Ontario’s frigid waters on Sunday to raise money for Special Olympics New York.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the Rochester Polar Plunge at Ontario Beach Park begins at noon. Last year, over 2,000 people took part in the polar plunge to raise $350,000 for Special Olympics competitions. You can donate and sign up for the polar plunge here.
New this year, there’s the “Cool School Mobile Polar Plunge”, intended for students in high school or younger. It’s taking place on Friday at 4 p.m. at Nazareth University. Registration is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Learn more here.
The Special Olympics provides year-round training and competition to over 66,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across two dozen sports. In the Rochester area, there are over 3,500 athletes and over 40 local Special Olympics competitions a year.
