ERWIN, N.Y. — People were evacuated in a Steuben County town Wednesday morning after a nitrogen leak.
County officials say it happened at around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Corning Diesel Plant on State Route 417 in the Town of Erwin.
Responding firefighters could see a vapor cloud drifting from the plant toward State Route 417 and I-99. People nearby were evacuated to the Addison Community Center.
As of 11:30 a.m. county officials say this situation is under control and evacuated people can return.
