It's been over three decades since Dave Matthews Band burst onto the music scene with their 1994 debut studio album, Under the Table and Dreaming, which went on to be certified a whopping six times platinum and spawned such massive hits as "What Would You Say," "Satellite" and "Ants Marching." All these years later, the Grammy-winning band is still going strong...in fact, they're hitting the road again this summer for a huge run of dates.
According to a recent post on Instagram, DMB is launching a massive tour scheduled to kick off with a trio of Texas shows in May, going on to stop in locations including West Palm Beach, Kansas City and Saratoga Springs before wrapping up in September with a Labor Day weekend residency at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington (a full list of dates can be found on the band's website).Tickets will be available to the general public beginning Friday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. local time (a DMB Warehouse Fan Association presale has already started).
Fans on Instagram were thrilled to hear the news, with one writing, "Happy happy joy joy!"
"The news we needed on this snowy winter day in Michigan," wrote a second person, adding, "Can’t wait!"
Dave Matthews recently premiered an all-new song live
Over the weekend at the ninth annual Dave & Tim Riviera Maya concert weekend in Cancun, Mexico, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds played a new song for the crowd, titled "Making It Great."
"Right now, it seems like greed and cruelty have won the day in many corners of the planet," Matthews said in a video clip of the performance. "But please don't give up on love and kindness, you know."
"I know we're probably going to hear lots of different opinions, but another person, a nurse, was killed in Minneapolis today — I'm sure you read about it," Matthews continued, going on to add, "All I know is, if ICE wasn't there in Minneapolis right now, smashing people on the head, that that man would still be alive and so would Renee Nicole Good...it's incredibly cruel and it's bumming me out. I don't mean to bring the darkness in, but the darkness is there."
The night before, Matthews and Reynolds covered Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s protest song “Ohio," featuring a bit of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name.” According to one fan who posted a clip from the concert on social media, the audience "went insane" over the unexpected crossover.
