What a month it has been for the Buffalo Bills. To go from Super Bowl contenders to hiring a new head coach in a matter of weeks should serve as a reminder of how quickly the NFL can change. With quarterback Josh Allen sitting in on head coach interviews, I got the feeling that he would be a driving force behind whomever the hire ended up being. That it is a coach who he has familiarity with and has been successful under should come as no surprise.
As for Joe Brady, his coaching arc has been quite the journey. Brady has been with the Bills since 2022. He has served as the team’s QBs coach (2022-23) and offensive coordinator (2023-25). But he was LSU’s passing game coordinator for Joe Burrow’s epic campaign down in Baton Rouge, which helped spur his popularity in coaching interview circles He also has a failed stint with the Carolina Panthers (2020-21) as their offensive coordinator. Bears fans are likely familiar with Brady because he was a coaching candidate during last year’s hiring cycle and was someone who interviewed for a gig on Matt Eberflus’ staff in 2022.
