Day 9 of the Chicago Bears offseason. My friends are challenging me to try new things in the kitchen. First up: Cake box cookies. The result? Meh. It works in a pinch. And at least I have some cookies to nibble on whenever I have a craving. But my go-to cookie recipe is goated among my friend groups, so this isn’t one I’ll try again. However, it never hurts to try new things — hence, I’m glad I did it.
I hope Shedeur Sanders making the Pro Bowl doesn’t lessen the shine off Nahshon Wright’s accomplishment. Not all Pro Bowl replacements equal. There is no denying Wright’s résumé at year’s end was Pro Bowl-worthy. That it took a player to fall off doesn’t lessen the achievement. Meanwhile, the number of quarterbacks who had to opt out or decline for Sanders to make the Pro Bowl is head turning. Matt Marton-Imagn Images The extreme take is to dump the Pro Bowl. A more level-headed idea would be to not choose the replacements based solely on position. If a quarterback drops out and the next most-deserving Pro Bowl candidate is an offensive lineman, then so be it. If you’re going to insist on trying to make Fetch happen with the Pro Bowl Games, make it so that players who deserve a trip (no mattter their position) can make it to the game. Seeing these stats put a smile on my face:Where #Bears QB Caleb Williams ranks in NFL history for passes in their first two seasons:• 7,483 passing yards (9th)• 47 passing TDs (T-12th)• 877 rushing yards (15th)• 8 fourth-quarter comebacks (T-1st)• 7 game-winning drives (T-2nd)Not too shabby ? pic.twitter.com/UdO8PkKDnq

Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid is doing his best to try to get former assistant Matt Nagy a new gig:“Matt and I have a great relationship,” Reid said of Nagy, who had been the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator the past three years. “Before the season even started here, I knew that he wanted an opportunity to have his own show. He’s been a head coach. He was Coach of the Year [in 2018 with Chicago Bears]. All the things I’ve said about him I still feel [that way] about him.
“He deserves to have a head coaching job. If not, it gives him an opportunity to go out and do his thing. I mean, somebody is missing a gem here. That’s how I feel. I would love to see him get picked up and going. At the same time, we got back a gem [in Bieniemy]. It has a chance to be a win-win here when everything is said and done.”
This is a dubious stat:Davante Adams is 0-5 in conference championship games. That is the 2nd-most losses without a win by any player since the round was created in 1970, behind John Cappelletti (0-6). pic.twitter.com/trCGEuAnKi
— ESPN Insights (@ESPNInsights) January 26, 2026 NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero (via Twitter/X) reports former New York Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka is joining the Detroit Lions in what is being described as a “high-ranking offensive staff role.” Kafka, who played collegiately at Northwestern, has been a mainstay on lists of assistant coaches to watch in recent years. Now that he has left the Big Apple, Kafka gets to rebuild his coaching stock under Dan Campbell. The Washington Commanders are reportedly lining things up to make their hiring of Daronte Jones as the team’s new defensive coordinator officially official. This is notable, in part, becasue the Commanders were reportedly showing in terest in Bears DBs Coach Al Harris. As for Jones, who interviewed for the Bears DC gig last offseason, he finally leaves from under the shadow of Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores. Lost in the madness of snow and silliness was this fun fact from the AFC title game:Jarrett Stidham's 52-yard pass to Marvin Mims Jr. traveled 41 yards downfield, the longest completion by air yards by a Broncos QB this season.#NEvsDEN | #BroncosCountry pic.twitter.com/w0Ev2bkOfb
— Next Gen Stats (@NextGenStats) January 25, 2026 Since the breakup, we’ve seen Tom Brady win a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers and Bob Kraft take his Patriots team back to the big game. Meanwhile, Bill Belichick’s experience at the University of North Carolina has been disjointed as heck. Belichick is still an all-time great coach. Arguably the greatest of all-time. But the optics here aren’t great. In case you’re curious, 20.4 percent of the participants in our Twitter/X poll asking about your rooting interest in Super Bowl LX said they hope both teams lose. And I love that energy for so many reasons. Mandatory Credit: Ron Chenoy-Imagn ImagesMORE BEARS FROM BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad-Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
