Ron Funches Roasts Michael Rapaport After The Traitors

Comedian Ron Funches says The Traitors was not quite the cozy murder-mystery experience he expected.

During a recent stand-up set, Funches, 42, joked about what initially drew him to the Peacock reality competition, which strands contestants in a Scottish castle where "traitors" secretly eliminate players night after night.

"That sounds fun," Funches recalled thinking. "I like games, I like mystery, I love Nightcrawler."

What he didn’t anticipate was the cast.

"What I didn’t realize was they were going to lock me in a castle with 20 of the craziest motherf--kers," Funches said of his Traitors Season 4 cast, before delivering the punchline that brought the biggest reaction.

"They locked me in a f—king castle with Michael Rapaport."

Funches went on to poke fun at the 55-year-old's famously intense personality, comparing it to the actor’s frequent on-screen portrayals.

"You know how he plays characters where he’s yelling and you can’t understand what he’s saying?" Funches quipped. "Guess what? He can’t act, y’all. That’s just him 24/7."

According to Funches, Rapaport spent much of their time together passionately ranting about the New York Knicks and Israel, topics the comedian said he eventually learned to acknowledge just to keep the peace.

"I’m like, 'I get it, Michael,'" Funches added. "'They’re both storied franchises that need new ownership.'"

The bit drew laughs from the audience and quickly resonated with Traitors fans familiar with the show’s high-stress environment and combustible personalities. "I wish we had seen more of this in the show, cause Ron is priceless," said one Redditor.

"Your reaction of Michael R is the same for anyone else watching realizing this whole time he never was acting," said a commenter on TikTok.

While Funches framed the experience entirely as comedy, his recollection underscored just how intense life inside the castle can be, especially when reality TV, strategy, and strong opinions collide. Funches was exiled an outsider from early on in the show thanks to his connection to Donna Kelce, who was later revealed to be the show's first "Secret Traitor."

Despite being a Faithful, the Traitors capitalized on those feelings of distrust that surrounded Funches from the start. He was banished from the game in episode 6. Now, he's using his experience as source material for new stand-up, and fans are loving it.

New episodes of The Traitors stream Thursdays on Peacock.
