‘The Traitors’ Issues Statement Addressing Bullying and Harassment of Cast Members

The Traitors is addressing bullying and harassment of its season 4 cast members.

On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Peacock reality show took to Instagram to make a statement on the cyberbullying several of its stars are currently facing.

"We are committed to making our casts feel safe, respected, and supported - on screen and off," the statement began. "The cast of The Traitors are real people, and what happens in the game should never lead to cyberbullying or harassment. There's a difference between discussing a show and targeting individuals."

"Let's not ruin the passion for this show with unwarranted negativity and personal attacks," it concluded. "We appreciate your support."

In the comment section, fans expressed disappointment in the statement, given the presence of controversial cast members on the show. Others were frustrated that no such statement was made when cast members were bullied on previous seasons.

"I agree," wrote one fan. "And a further suggestion: Maybe you shouldn’t cast people who have/continue to make other people feel unsafe through their words and/or actions."

"you want them to feel safe but you cast colton underwood and michael rapaport???," said another.

"Where was this energy when @thedaniellereyes was relentlessly bullied last season?" added a third.

Around the same time the statement was posted, Lisa Rinna took to her Instagram Story to defend her Traitors co-star Colton Underwood from harassment after she shared a post on Threads calling him a "stalker." Underwood was previously accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend Cassie Randolph in 2020.

“It’s come to my attention that my post that I responded to in my housewife mode is taking on a life of its own and it’s causing real problems for Colton,” Rinna began. “And I do not want this because Colton and I are great. He was a great and is a great nemesis for me on the show in the game.
Now, as you know, if you ask me to be a housewife, I’ll bring it to you, right? That’s what I was doing. All in the name of the game.”

”But, just so you know, I am totally great with Colton. I’ve been texting with him, we talk, everything is great,” she continued. “The fact that the backlash is happening, I feel horrible about because I don’t want to hurt anybody.
I’m here to play the game and have fun. And Colton is a great nemesis for me. We had so much fun.
I’ve only always had a great time with him, so, please guys be gentle.”

The reality star then reminded fans that the cast was doing the best they could, and that there’s no reason to send anyone death threats over a TV show.

“So everyone, take a deep breath, and just know that everything is great. It’s a game.
It is a game,” she concluded. “Try to watch it like a sporting event, you know? Like, if you were watching football or wrestling, and just be gentle with everybody, ’cause everyone’s doing the best they can.
”
