On Saturday, Oliver Bearman completed the maiden laps of the Haas VF-26 at Ferrari’s private test circuit, marking an important early milestone for the American outfit as it readies itself for the first official pre-season running.
While fans had previously only seen digital renders from the team’s January 19 launch, the filming day provided the first real-world glimpse of the sleek new machine. Adorned with prominent Toyota Gazoo Racing branding – a nod to the team’s expanded partnership with their new title sponsor – the VF-26 looked every bit the part of a next-generation contender.
The successful shakedown, conducted on Pirelli intermediate tyres, follows hot on the heels of engine supplier and technical partner Ferrari’s own run at the same venue just 24 hours earlier.
It’s a busy time for the paddock, as Haas joins a group of seven teams that have now successfully put rubber to tarmac ahead of the looming regulatory shift.
All Eyes on Barcelona
With the initial "fire-up" and shakedown checked off the list, Haas is now shifting its focus toward the first official pre-season test in Barcelona, scheduled for January 26–30.
While ten teams are expected to head to Spain – with Williams conspicuously absent from the test – Haas is already signaling that they won't be standing still; the team has hinted at an aggressive development curve, meaning the car that hits the track next week will likely continue to evolve before the season opener in Australia this March.
