Justin Stone is the Chicago Cubs’ Director of Hitting … so what’s he doing putting out a video of Chicago Cubs pitchers?
Well, the answer is very cool, actually:
Some good friends visited the facility this past weekend ? pic.twitter.com/Ckr9n9nd0Y
— Justin Stone (@elite_baseball) January 23, 2026Stone runs Elite Baseball Training in Chicago, and with so much of the club in Chicago for the Cubs Convention this past weekend, it made for a great opportunity to get together and check in. And a little work with the Cubs athletic training staff, Cubs Pitching Coach Tommy Hottovy, and Cubs VP of Pitching Tyler Zombro? All the better.
So you have so many Cubs pitchers – I see, at a minimum, Justin Steele, Cade Horton, Edward Cabrera, Jordan Wicks, and Ben Brown in the video – having an opportunity to get together to talk about their training, talk about pitching, etc. You don’t get that kind of get-together too easily in mid-January, and hopefully it pays some dividends as these guys look ahead to the ramp-up of Spring Training.
To that end, as Hottovy explained in the video, this is a good opportunity, too, to talk to the pitchers about where they are in their progression. That can help set everyone up to be on the same page as soon as possible once guys get to Arizona. Just a nice little extra thing to see from this group of pitchers.
