“Unfortunately it appears he was homeless,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve De Jong told Newsweek. “It looks like he was probably living there.”

A big defensive tackle, Johnson was drafted by the Patriots in 1993, but made an NFL debut with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played two seasons with the NFC East club before a lone season with the Oakland Raiders. He went on two seasons for the Orlando Predators — winning the 1998 championship — and one with the Los Angeles Avengers in the Arena Football League.
A Southern California native, Johnson attended Westchester High School in Los Angeles and played at Los Angeles Harbor College before heading to to Texas Southern University in Houston as a junior college transfer.
