Police have arrested a tattoo artist and a 50-year-old mother after her 14-year-old boy was illegally inked at a barbershop in west Macon, Georgia.
An incident report from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office stated that the father of the teen boy reported the matter to law enforcement on December 29, 2025. He said that his son’s mother, Shamir Womack, took the boy to get a “very inappropriate” sleeve tattoo on his inner arm without his knowledge or consent, according to WGXA.
The father, who had full custody of his son at the time of the incident, told authorities that he wanted to file charges against both Womack and Walter Nesbitt Jr., who has been identified as the tattoo artist that gave his son the sleeve.
BSO deputies then went to the tattoo shop to question Nesbitt, who initially denied working on the teenager. However, Nesbitt later came clean and allegedly admitted to giving the teen the tattoo after Womack brought him in.

It is not currently known what the tattoo was of or whose idea it was to give the teenager the sleeve.
While speaking to officers, Nesbitt said that Womack did not sign a consent form and admitted that he did not have a license to give the tattoo. He was then arrested and charged with unlawfully tattooing the body of a person under the age of 18, according to the incident report.
A warrant was signed for Womack’s arrest at the time the incident report was filed. BSO confirmed that she was later arrested on Saturday, January 17, and was charged with party to a crime, according to WGXA.
Authorities confirmed that both Nesbitt and Womack have been released from Bibb County Jail on bond. It is not currently clear if either Nesbitt and Womack entered pleas or retained legal representation in light of their arrests.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment when asked about the arrests.
Illegally tattooing someone under the age of 18 is a misdemeanor offense in Georgia. Anyone found guilty of the charge may be sentenced to serve up to a year in jail, be forced to pay a fine between $1,000 or $2,500 or both, according to Justia Law.

It is always illegal to tattoo anyone under 18 years old in Georgia unless the tattoo artist is a licensed osteopath or technician and is acting under the direct supervision of a licensed physician or osteopath, according to law firm Lawson and Barry’s website.
Meanwhile, being deemed a party to a crime is considered a severe offense in Georgia because the accused can be convicted of the actual crime charged, according to Lawson and Barry’s website. Penalties for the charge can include prison or fines, based on the particular crime in question.
There is no set standard for what Georgia courts consider participation in a crime. The mere presence at the crime scene is not sufficient evidence to convict someone of being a party, so factors such as presence, companionship and conduct are considered when determining someone’s verdict and sentencing.
