The Nationals, deep in a rebuild under their new front office, are going for a volume return on their two years of control on Gore. He has front-two upside, and has shown it at times, but Gore has also dealt with inconsistency and health questions. Thrown in the fact that he’s controllable for only two more years, the second of which could get shrunken by the lockout, and I’d long wondered what kind of return he could actually net.
With the Cubs having traded for Cabrera, and the Mets just last night pulling off the deal for Freddy Peralta, the starting pitcher trade market wound up getting hot again. More soon.
