DANSVILLE, N.Y. — Wednesday, Jan. 21, marked one year since Ryan Corbett was freed by the Taliban after being held captive in Afghanistan for more than two years.
Corbett released a statement saying this past year has been the greatest of his life in many ways.
“A year of self-discovery and re-discovery of our big beautiful world and re-engagement with the people who give my life meaning,” he stated. “That has not been without challenges and set-backs, but I have an amazing support team and skills and perspectives honed in the crucible to help me along.”
Corbett is advocating for the release of others still held by the Taliban. He shared a picture of American academic Dennis Coyle, whose family is working to secure his release.
He said his thoughts and prayers are with Coyle’s family.
