It’s the second transfer for James. He heads to Alabama with 2 seasons of remaining eligibility after 2 seasons at Akron and 1 season at Mississippi State.
James is listed as measuring 6-5 and 320 pounds on the MSU roster. He started 12 games for the Bulldogs in 2025, only missing the season-opener against Southern Miss. Nine of those starts came at left tackle. Per Mississippi State, James allowed just 3 sacks and committed 6 penalties over a career-high 856 snaps this past season.
At Akron, James appeared in 3 games of the 2023 season, allowing him to redshirt. In 2024, he made 12 appearances with 9 starts.
James is from Pompano Beach, Florida and a product of Blanche Ely. He was rated 3-stars, the No. 164 offensive tackle, No. 307 player in the Sunshine State and No. 2,120 prospect in the Class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite.
