College Rock was filled with the sound of Sugar during the 1990s. Founded by Bob Mould following the breakup of Hüsker Dü, Sugar quickly became stars in the alternative rock world. Mould, David Barbe and Malcolm Travis hit the sweet spot, creating what many consider to be a "perfect" debut record: 1992's Copper Blue.
And like a good sugar rush, it was over as soon as it started: the trio went their separate ways in 1995. But now, Sugar is BACK with a full-blown reunion tour.
"We're pleased to announce the Love You Even Still 2026 World Tour with new live dates on sale next week and a brand new song, 'Long Live Love,' out TODAY," the band posted online on Jan. 21.
View this post on InstagramThe tour includes the initial slate of (now sold-out) reunion shows Sugar announced back in October. Kicking off in May at New York City's Webster Hall, the tour heads overseas to London's O2, before trekking across Europe. The band returns to the States in August with a slate of shows on the East Coast and Midwest.
Tickets for the Lover You Even Still World Tour go on sale Friday, January 30 at 10 AM local time with presales starting January 27 at 10 AM local.
"Sugar was dormant for decades and sounds and styles are always changing," said Mould of the reunion, per Stereogum. "Nothing is certain, and we had no idea there would be such a positive reaction to the first song. We were heartened to see the excitement for the NYC and London shows."
"It's been wonderful to hear people talking so fondly about how much the band meant to them — the strength of the songs, the energy of the shows (and the decibel levels of them!). It was a super special time for all of us," he adds. "Now that we're back in business, we're laser-focused on getting in shape for an exciting year of loud rock shows around the world!"
"Since we last played in 1995, I have worked on hundreds of records and engaged with music people all over the world," said David Barbe in October. "When the subject of SUGAR comes up, it is like a misty legend that they either remember from a long time ago or have only heard about. I am excited for fans to experience it in the real."
Malcolm Travis added that Sugar's return has been "a moment that I've been dreaming about for a very long time. What we managed to accomplish in the short span of time we were in existence still boggles my mind."

Within a three-year period, Sugar recorded two albums (Copper Blue, File Under: Easy Listening), the Beaster EP, and released a handful of videos that found home on MTV's Alternative Nation and 120 Minutes.
It seems that a third album is on its way. "Long Live Love" is the second new Sugar song in three decades, following "House of Dead Memories" that they released in October. "I wrote 'Long Live Love' in 2007 while living in Washington, D.C.," Mould said in a press release.
"It was the George W. Bush era, I was deep in my DJ world with Blowoff, yet still writing pop songs on guitars,” he added. “Garbage 2.0 is one of my desert island albums, so it's not surprising that 'Long Live Love' reminds me of a long-lost Garbage song!"
