It's now easier to collect hearts and easier to evolve certain Buddy Pokémon, but perhaps most importantly, there are plenty of new challenges.
These Precious Pals Collection Challenges provide you with some event-exclusive research tasks, and some very nifty rewards too.
So, if you're curious what challenges are on offer, and what rewards you'll get for completing them, here's what you need to know.

There are currently two Precious Pals Collection Challenges, a few field research tasks to complete on the side, and a Timed Research available for players who purchase the Precious Pals event ticket.
Here are all of the Precious Pals challenges and their rewards:
In Knead of a Friend Collection Challenge
The In Knead of a Friend Collection Challenge runs until 8pm local time on 25th January 2026, and requires you to collect two Pokémon:
Fidough – Found in the wild, from research tasks (see down below), or seasonal research tasks (Evolve a Pokémon)Dachsbun – Obtained by evolving Fidough using 50 Fidough CandyRewards:
5,000 XP5,000 StardustFidough encounterThe Little Friends, Big Potential Collection Challenge runs until 8pm local time on 25th January 2026, and requires you to collect four Pokémon:
Magikarp – Found in the wild or from seasonal research tasks (Catch 7 Pokémon)Swablu – Found in the wild or from seasonal research tasks (Earn 7 hearts with your buddy)Wimpod – Found in the wild or from seasonal research tasks (Catch 7 Pokémon)Stufful – Found in the wild or from seasonal research tasks (Catch 7 Pokémon / Catch 7 different species of Pokémon)Rewards:

There are three field research tasks as part of Precious Pals in Pokémon Go. These are:
Earn a Candy exploring with your buddy – Reward: Fidough encounterGive your buddy 1 treats – Reward: 5x Razz Berries or 5x Nanab BerriesTake a snapshot of your buddy – Reward: Goldeen, Eevee or Pawmi encounterPrecious Pals Timed Research
Players who purchase the Precious Pals event ticket for £4.99 will be able to take part in the Precious Pals Timed Research.
This involves six challenges, all of which have their own individual rewards, and a separate reward for completing all six.
Earn 5 hearts with your buddy – Reward: Wimpod encounterEarn 10 hearts with your buddy – Reward: Swablu encounterEarn 15 hearts with your buddy – Reward: Pancham encounterFeed your buddy 1 time –Reward: Magikarp encounterFeed your buddy 3 times – Reward: Espurr encounterTake a snapshot with your buddy – Reward: 2x PoffinsCompleting all six challenges will earn you 1,000 Stardust, the Heart Avatar Pose and a Fidough encounter.
