They’ll join Virginia-headquartered engineer Amentum, whom Rolls-Royce announced as delivery partner leader yesterday.
SMRs are smaller, scalable factory-built nuclear power plants that can be deployed for a range of applications.
Rolls-Royce SMR will first deliver the technology at Wylfa in the UK and at Temelín in the Czech Republic.
At Wylfa, Rolls-Royce SMR has been picked as preferred bidder by the nuclear arm of Great British Energy to build three units that will deliver up to 1.5GW of low-carbon energy to the grid.
“Around the world, the pressing need to generate more low-carbon energy is more acute than ever,” said Mace Consult chief executive Davendra Dabasia.
“We’re incredibly proud to be part of Amentum’s delivery partner team, with our role serving as a signal of our track record not only in the nuclear industry, but as a leading major programme delivery consultant around the world.”
Hochtief chief executive Juan Santamaría said: “The Rolls-Royce SMR program is a landmark for the global energy transition and a defining moment for Hochtief.”
“The Amentum Rolls-Royce SMR collaboration advances the deployment of this transformational technology, a critical enabler in strengthening energy security in the UK and continental Europe,” said John Heller, chief executive of Amentum.
