Boys basketball roundup: La Habra stays tied atop Crestview standings

Acen Jimenez had 32 points with nine rebounds and two steals for La Habra’s boys basketball team in a 62-42 win over Foothill in a Crestview League game Tuesday at La Habra High.

La Habra (19-6, 4-1) is tied with Crean Lutheran atop the league standings and beat Crean Lutheran in its first matchup on Jan. 9.

    Josh Desatoff had 20 points with four rebounds and Aaron Wilson had four steals for the Highlanders.

    Foothill (7-16, 0-5) will host Redondo Union in a nonleague game Saturday.

    In other games Tuesday:

    In the North Hills League:

    Troy 54, Pacifica 37: Troy held onto its share of first place in the league standings with a home win over Pacifica.

    Luke Marshburn led Troy (13-11, 4-1) with 16 points. Justin Balbacal and Miles Haywood each added 10 points.

    Troy is tied with Esperanza for first place in the league standings and will play Brea Olinda on the road Friday.

    In the Freeway League:

    El Dorado 60, Sunny Hills 45: El Dorado stayed unbeaten in Freeway League play with a win over Sunny Hills at El Dorado High.

    El Dorado (21-2, 5-0) has won at least 21 games in two consecutive seasons.

    Brandom Kim led the Golden Hawks with nine points. Evan Nam, Jack Boettner and Elias Rodarte each added eight points.

    In the Sea View League:

    Trabuco Hills 65, Mission Viejo 57: Ryan Hull had 20 points for Trabuco Hills in a home win over Mission Viejo.

    Trabuco Hills (13-11, 2-2) lost its first two league games but has won two consecutive games to move into third place in the league standings.

    Neo Mandrai had 15 points for the Mustangs and Shoji Karst added 11 points.

    In the Golden West League:

    Buena Park 51, Garden Grove 48: Daishawn Chambers scored 24 points and made four 3-pointers for Buena Park in a road win.

    Ernesto Portas had eight points for Buena Park (9-15, 2-3). Alejandro Medina had a team-high seven rebounds and three blocks.

    In the Orange Coast League:

    Santa Ana 69, Westminster 53: Nick Palacio scored 21 points for Santa Ana in a road win over Westminster.

    Logan Rivera had 19 points for Santa Ana (10-13, 3-2), which hosts Segerstrom on Thursday.

    In the Coast League:

    Los Amigos 73, Santiago 36: Los Amigos continued its league dominance with a blowout win over Santiago at home.

    Mekhi Belote led Los Amigos (16-7, 4-0) with 17 points and eight rebounds. Marc Basallo added 11 points and five steals.

    Anaheim 50, Savanna 45 (OT): Anaheim outscored Savanna 8-3 in overtime to win on the road.

    Freshman Carter Dean had 23 points for Anaheim (12-10, 2-2).

    In the Academy League:

    Tarbut V’Torah 76, Western Christian 62: Ari Varon scored 35 points and made seven 3-pointers for Tarbut V’Torah.

    Ori Maya had 23 points with six 3-pointers for Tarbut V’Torah (8-7, 2-1) and Matt Olen added nine points. Jon Groner grabbed 12 rebounds and Eli Feinberg had five assists.

    In nonleague games:

    Canyon 79, El Modena 51: Bryson Talulu-Allen had 18 points for Canyon in a nonleague win over El Modena.

    Freshman Dean Dohrmann had 13 points for Canyon (15-9) and Nicholas Shorts added 11.

    Samuel Jackett had 16 points for El Modena (13-11) with four 3-pointers. Christopher Zazueta also made four 3-pointers and had 15 points while Declan Wyser added 10 points.

    El Modena resumes North Hills League play Friday at home against Pacifica. Canyon hosts first place Crean Lutheran in a Crestview League game Friday.
