Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Camden Cook from Suwanee, Georgia, has announced his intention to swim and study at the University of Georgia in the class of 2031. He confirmed to SwimSwam:
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Georgia! First off, I would like to thank Coach Versfeld and the rest of the UGA coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. Huge thanks to Coach Chris for pushing me to become the best version of myself everyday, Coach Wil for jump starting my career, and the rest of my Swim Atlanta family. Finally, I would like to thank my friends and family for the endless support. The journey is just getting started! GO DAWGS!”
A junior at North Gwinnett High School, Cook swims year-round with SwimAtlanta and specializes in breaststroke and IM. He placed 3rd in the 200 IM (1:52.19) and logged a 25.36 breast and a 21.11 free on the 200 medley and 200 free relays. He had qualified in the 100 breast with 56.42 at the Gwinnett High School Championship the previous week, but was disqualified in prelims at the state meet and did not swim in the final.
In March, Cook notched a slew of personal bests at SwimAtlanta’s Best of the South meet. Those included the 100 free (47.02, 23rd place), 100 breast (55.62, 3rd), 200 breast (2:00.96, 6th), and 400 IM (4:04.20, 20th).
More recently, he updated his times in the 100 breast (55.02) and 200 IM (1:51.29) in December at the Georgia Senior State Championship and Winter Juniors East, respectively.
Cook had an outstanding long-course season, as well, closing with PBs in the 100 free (54.50), 50 breast (28.73), 100 breast (1:03.28), and 200 breast (2:18.02) at Ocala Futures. He placed 3rd in the 100 breast and 200 breast and 5th in the 50 breast.
Cook will join the Bulldogs in the fall of 2027 with “Best of the Rest” fly/free specialist Alex Goodman. He will overlap one year with sophomore breaststroker Elliot Woodburn, whose 51.20 at the UGA Fall Invite was a full 1.06 seconds faster than his best time from last season. He’ll also have two years with Finn Wendland (54.29 so far this season)
