Authorities are trying to determine if a series of robberies at 7-Eleven stores around Orange and Los Angeles counties are connected.
Around 1:24 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, officers responded to a robbery at a 7-Eleven in the 2000 block of East La Palma Avenue in Anaheim, where a clerk said multiple male suspects climbed over the counter, took cash drawers with money inside and drove off in a light-colored sedan, said Sgt. Eric Anderson with Anaheim police.
Minutes later, police were called to another 7-Eleven, also on East La Palma, where a clerk described a similar robbery.
A resident also reached out to police and reported seeing multiple people throwing things into a vehicle that matched the description police received from the robberies, Anderson said.
Investigators learned similar robberies took place at 7-Elevens in Buena Park and Santa Ana late Sunday, Jan. 18, into the early hours of Monday morning, Anderson said.
There have also been 7-Eleven robberies reported around the greater Los Angeles area as well.
“We believe that it’s a related series,” Anderson said.
Anderson said he didn’t know the value of everything taken across all of the stores, but in Anaheim the robbers took around $1,000 in cash from each store and also took some merchandise, such as chips and other food.
At one of the locations, the robbers shattered the counter, Anderson said.
Police aren’t yet sure why the robberies seem to be targeting 7-Eleven stores. No arrests had been made so far.
