ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police arrested a woman on Monday after a year of investigating to find a suspect related to a shooting that happened on Jan. 22, 2025, in the intersection of Otis and Myrtle streets.
Last year, officers responded to a report of a car accident, when they say they located a woman in her 20s shot in the upper body. The victim was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital and treated for life-altering injuries; no suspect was found at the scene.
Over the past year, since the shooting, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit worked to find a suspect, interviewing multiple people and gathering evidence.
Police say the investigation provided evidence that Emiah Cason, 19, shot the victim during a robbery. RPD found her walking on Dr. Samuel McCree Way and arrested her on Monday.
Cason was charged with assault in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and grand larceny in the fourth degree.
She was transported to the Monroe County Jail and arraigned in Rochester City Court.
