Delicious food and Super Bowl Sunday go hand-in-hand. What's your go-to snack during Game Day?
Sometimes it depends on where you live, according to a new nationwide survey. The findings in RotoGrinders’ Super Bowl Snack Index 2026 reveal sharp regional differences: Some states treat Super Bowl food as a centerpiece of game day, while others take a more casual approach.
Here are some key findings:
Buffalo wings dominate Super Bowl Sunday — no surprise there. Wings are the top snack nationally (26%) and lead in 36 states, peaking in New Jersey (47%), Georgia (43%), South Carolina (37%), Virginia (36%) and Alabama (35%).Pizza wins where convenience drives decisions, ranking first in seven states — led by New York (33%), New Hampshire (32%) and Illinois (25%), and with Iowa, Michigan, Alaska, and Oregon close behind.Dip preferences are strongly regional, with buffalo chicken dip leading in the most states (16) — topping New York and Pennsylvania (31%). French onion dominates in New Hampshire (27%) and Vermont (26%), while queso leads in Nebraska (25%), North Carolina (24%) and Colorado (23%).Some states clearly judge the host by the snacks (!). A majority of fans in New York, North Carolina, California, Texas and Louisiana say that Super Bowl food affects how they judge the host.Other states generally don’t judge, meanwhile. In states like Wisconsin, Alaska, Nebraska, Minnesota, and South Carolina, most fans notice the snacks but say they don’t factor into how they judge the host. For more findings, click here.
