Marg Helgenberger started her career as an '80s soap star, but she's officially a TV legend.
The actress, 67, rose to fame on the soap opera Ryan's Hope, on which she appeared from 1982 to 1986. She later headed to the popular drama series China Beach, which followed the ups and downs at an evacuation hospital during the Vietnam War. But it was her role in the iconic aughts series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation that solidified Helgenberger's role in TV history. She played Catherine Willows, the graveyard shift CSI assistant supervisor, for 12 seasons on the series, starring alongside actor William Petersen, who departed in season 9. Helgenberger later returned to the CSI franchise in CSI: Vegas for its second and third seasons.
Since concluding her run on CSI: Vegas in 2024, Helgenberger hasn't been back on TV. However, it's safe to say the legendary strawberry blonde looks better than ever. In a rare post on her Instagram page, the classic beauty shared a fun photo of herself and a little one drawing at an easel.
"Happy Friday! Make room to be creative this weekend. ✨," she captioned the sweet photo, which showed her sitting on the ground.

Outside of her role as an actress, Helgenberger makes sure to advocate for caregivers.
A member of The Creative Coalition, a nonprofit advocacy group consisting of actors, directors, producers, and writers, Helgenberger raises visibility and builds federal support for bills that give family caregivers tax credits. She came to her advocacy work after seeing her own parents' struggle financially as a result of long-term illnesses.
“This is a way for me to honor both of my parents … and bring some needed relief to people — millions of people — throughout the country,” she told AARP in 2024.
You Can Finally Stream China Beach
Fans of Helgenberger and her work on China Beach were delighted by the news last summer that they could finally stream the series on the Roku Channel.
“Caught in the whirlwind of the Vietnam War, three women fight to maintain their sanity amid the carnage as each, in her own way, supports the United States’ troops in this riveting drama chronicling unsung heroines of the war,” the synopsis reads.
The show starred Dana Delany as 1st Lt. Colleen Murphy, an army nurse known for her bravery and kindness during the tumultuous and tragic Vietnam War. Delany earned two Emmy Awards for her performance in the role.
