The 44-year-old appeared on a Thursday episode of The World's First Podcastand remembers how Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, thought Clooney would be a good match. Despite it being 30 years ago, Foster recalls it being "such a blah" evening.
"Rande and Cindy tried to set me up with him, like, when I was 24 maybe?" said Foster. "And the four of us met, and it was just such a hard no."
Foster adds that one of the main reasons she wasn't excited about the prospect of dating one of Hollywood's biggest stars. At the time, Clooney was already in his 40s, and while it wasn't uncommon for older men to date younger women, Foster didn't want any part of it.
"I remember just thinking, 'Oh, he is so old,'" she said. "I always say that when I see these young girls dating older guys. Like, yes, of course, sometimes it makes sense, and it's all the things. [But] I've never understood a 19-year-old that's into a 40-year-old. I just always thought that was so weird."
She even remembers feeling "offended" that her two friends would think they were a good match, and thought during the whole date that, "'I'm gonna die, like I'm gonna die'." At the same time, Foster was also going through a breakup and wasn't emotionally ready to move on.
"Then, here's this one, who just feels like a grandpa. It was depressing. I was so depressed," she recalled.
Regardless, Foster says that she has no ill feelings and thought Clooney was a nice guy, with no intentions to offend him. BIt was simply a case of bad timing and hopeful expectations from her friends, and even remember crying about her ex to the Oscar-winning actor.
Foster went on to marry former tennis player Tommy Haas in 2006, had two daughters, and then separated in 2024. Clooney, on the other hand, has been married to human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin since 2014 and shares twins.
