Timothy Busfield has been accused of inappropriately touching two twin boys while working as a director on the set of The Cleaning Lady. The West Wing alum, 68, has not only denied the charges, but is insisting that the father of the alleged victims often encouraged the kids to come into direct physical contact with him, an arrest warrant obtained by Us Weekly claims.
While speaking with Officer Marvin Brown, Busfield allegedly told him that “the dad, Ronald, would make [the twins] hug him, and he didn’t really want them to.”
On Friday, January 16, Alan Caudillo, who worked on the Fox crime drama as a cinematographer, appeared to echo the claims in new court documents obtained by Us.

“The twins’ parents were odd,” Caudillo allegedly said at the time, noting that the father, who was named in the documents but who Us has chosen not to identify, “creeped me out.”
The director of photography continued, “He was pushy and manipulative. He would force the twins to give me a hug every single time I saw him on set. He thought I was important, and it seemed like he wanted me to really like the boys. I always thought it was very creepy and unhealthy to force a child to give someone a hug. Ronnie was very overbearing. He had a power business, alpha-male attitude.”
Albuquerque Police Department via Getty ImagesAs Us previously reported, Busfield was accused of inappropriately touching the boys on multiple occasions from 2022 to 2024 — to allegedly include picking the kids up, touching them in “private areas,” and tickling them. One of the boys claimed he was “very afraid” of Busfield and reportedly did not initially tell anyone about the alleged abuse “because Tim was the director, and he feared Tim would get mad at him.”
While Busfield told police that it was “highly likely that he would have” come into physical contact with the children throughout their time on the show, he said he did not recall “overtly tickling the boys ever,” or picking them up. He did admit to picking up another child actor on set, noting there was “no protocol” for touching kids on set.
“I’m always around people, right? It would be, you know, in front of the parents. There would never be a weird moment about it,” he said, per the arrest warrant. “I don’t really remember picking those boys up. I remember picking up the boy who followed them. I’d pick him up and he’d be giggling and that would sort of get him ready to act.”
Inside the Jail Where Timothy Busfield is Being Held on Child Abuse Charges
Following the allegations, the Thirtysomething actor was dropped by his former talent agency, Innovative Artists.
New Mexico police issued a warrant for Busfield’s arrest on two counts of criminal misconduct against a minor on January 9. The director turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday, January 13. He’s since maintained that all accusations against him “are completely false,” according to his lawyer, Larry Stein.
“As a voluntary step, he submitted to an independent polygraph examination regarding those allegations and passed,” Stein said earlier this week.
If convicted on all charges, Busfield could face up to 15 years behind bars.
