Bars and restaurants across Chicago are preparing to host watch parties for the Bears vs. Rams matchup this weekend.
Many spots are already booked, and others are only taking walk-ins for the game.
The Staley in the South Loop is ready to Bear down with kegs, projectors and lights.
“You may not be able to tell from my voice now, but I’m super excited for one being a lifelong Bears fan—just seeing them do good for once is exciting,” said The Staley’s general manager Adrian Vazquez.
Come Sunday, it’s going to be all hands-on deck for the staff.
“We have a full house, the food and beer and all that has just been coming in dollies and dollies,” he said. “It’s been nonstop for the last couple of days.”
Vazquez told NBC Chicago last week for the Wild Card game against the Packers they were at full capacity by 4 p.m.
“It was our biggest day since being opened here and being able to be part of the excitement seeing the tides turn from 21 to 3 to them pulling off the comeback win in the fourth quarter—that was crazy,” he said. “I’m surprised the roof is still on the building.”
The Staley is extending hours to accommodate the crowd and offering Bears related themed drinks and raffles.
The manager of The Staley said he has never seen anything like this before in January. He said they’re already seeing record sales by at least $10,000.
“It means a lot especially during this season where a lot of places see a little bit of downturn on the business,” he said.Staff at other bars like Hawkeye’s on Taylor Street can’t wait for the game rush saying this is unbelievable time for the city.
“Everybody comes out to support the Bears,” said Sophia Kendall, a representative of Hawkeye’s Bar. “I’ve never really seen this many people show up for a football game.”
The place was shoulder to shoulder last week. They’re hoping the Bears can pull out yet another win.
“I’m really looking forward to it it’s always a really really I guess electric atmosphere here which is awesome,” said Vincent Gattuso, Hawkeye’s General Manager. “It’s the most loud I’d ever seen this place in the four years that I’ve been here is when the Bears win.”
Hawkeye’s is also offering a shuttle to and from soldier field for $10 dollars per person. The general manager is encouraging people to show up early to secure a seat for the game.
